THE KINDNESS TREE
Pictured is the final result of our Kindness Tree at Washington-Lee. It looks absolutely beautiful with the blooming hearts all around, and I am so thankful for each and every one of those students (and teachers!!) who have shown kindness to one another and were featured on the tree. I am also thankful for students and teachers who looked out for these acts of kindness and then nominated each other to be on the tree. It is truly beautiful to be able to see a physical representation of kind acts at our school through the month of February.
SCHOOL BOARD MEETING
Washington-Lee was featured at the School Board Meeting on Monday, March 6th. I was so honored to be recognized by Mrs. Mabe and have my video featured so that the school board members and more could see how we teach our students to be leaders at Washington-Lee. Our students do so much in order to be a part of these leadership opportunities, and I am just so blessed to be able to help guide these students as they grow mentally, emotionally, socially, and academically. I am also proud to say that Mrs. Mabe was nominated the Bearcat Elite award. Congratulations to our principal!! Check out the video at the bottom of this page!!
CAREER MONTH
As March continues, I have been teaching Career and College readiness to students Kindergarten through 4th Grade. It has been a lot of fun talking about my past-- working at Mister Donut and Cracker Barrel, applying to go to college and then Graduate School, and discussing the difficulties of applying and interviewing for jobs before finally landing my dream career here at Washington-Lee Elementary. I hope that my personal experiences can help encourage and motivate students, even at such a young age, to be looking forward to and planning for the future-- their future.
